Weatherstripping Doors and Windows
There are many different options for weatherstripping. If you have older double hung wooden windows and suspect them to be drafty, there are solutions. They can be fitted with modern weatherseals or weatherstripped with more traditional and longer lasting bronze or zinc weatherstripping. We also install and repair spring bronze for doors, along with interlocking thresholds.
Add spring bronze weatherstripping, interlocking weatherstripping, or v-cushion bronze to doors and windows
Spring bronze weatherstripping can be added to the jambs and sills of windows and doors to weather seal. This is a more traditional approach and will last the life of the door or window where other newer materials have a much shorter life span. Beautiful both when new and after it has gained a patina.
Modern weatherstripping
One way to weatherstrip older double hung windows is to retrofit newer vinyl and silicone seals in combination with spring bronze. It starts with removal of the lower sash, and then routing grooves along the bottom and top rail and adding an appropriate seal. These methods are very effective, especially on old windows, and are not visible when the window is closed.
Interlocking Thresholds
We repair, install, and troubleshoot interlocking thresholds. Whether historic, period appropriate bronze interlocking thresholds or aluminum modern thresholds, getting a good seal is a must.
